Art plays an extremely important role in the life of each student at North Ridge Primary School. Art classes in our school serve as a vehicle for creative expression where individual success and self expression is encouraged and achieved. Cooperation and respect are incorporated within our classroom environment. Through the use of a variety of art materials and techniques, students, explore the basic elements and principles of art which include line, color, form, shape value, texture and space.
The New York State Standards in Education are incorporated into our curriculum. A multi-disciplinary approach is taken, as students learn to make creative decisions in addition to connections with other areas of study. Art lessons and projects are integrated with school-wide themes and enhance and support individual class and grade level projects
The Arts-in-Education program continually complements our Art program, as it provides curriculum-related visiting artists as well as other events.
We look forward to sharing our creative and innovative projects with you in the spring when we proudly display our work at our annual North Ridge Art Exhibit / Science Fair.
